Something powerful happens when a community decides to show up for one another.
In Addison County, we continue to demonstrate that community is built through generosity, compassion, and a shared commitment to one another. At a time when so much of the national conversation is defined by division, inequality, and uncertainty, there is something inspiring about looking closer to home and seeing what happens when people come together.
For too many of our neighbors, making ends meet remains a daily struggle. The cost of housing, child care, food, transportation, and other essentials continues to put pressure on families. At the same time, local nonprofits are responding to growing needs while navigating rising costs and increasingly complex challenges. Response has looked like the following over the past year:
- 1,336 neighbors received the healthcare they needed, regardless of their ability to pay, through Open Door Clinic
- 5,833 nights of safe shelter were provided to neighbors experiencing homelessness through John Graham Housing & Services
- 2,785 patients received care when they needed it most, from maternal-child and home health services to therapy and hospice care from Addison County Home Health & Hospice
- 146,503 trips connected people to the places they needed to go, including work, appointments, groceries, and more, through Tri-Valley Transit
Behind every one of those numbers is a neighbor, and a community of people and organizations working together to make sure they have what they need. And this is just a glimpse of what’s happening across Addison County.
